THESE are all the people across the North East who were charged with theft in court this month.
Six people have appeared before magistrates charged with theft, with some being left with a community order or even a jail term.
Such offences can sometimes consist of petty theft, but can also attempted burglary or robbery as well.

This means people can receive a range of sentences depending on the seriousness of the theft and if anyone was threatened or harmed during the crime.
These are six people from the North East who were charged with theft in court this month:
- Brett Northey, 30, of Jubilee Close, Spennymoor, County Durham
Northey’s case was heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 17
He was charged with trespassing on a railway and four cases of theft from a shop.
He stole household items to the value of £70 belonging to Wilko Limited, he stole £73 worth of items belonging to One Stop Community Stores, he stole £50.91 worth of items from Home Bargains and stole £66.19 worth of items from Home Bargains again on a separate occasion.
He was committed to prison for 20 weeks and made to pay £638.59 in compensation in total.
He was also charged with failing to surrender to police and pleaded guilty to all offences.
- Barry Hutchinson, 53 of Clifton Road, Darlington
Hutchinson’s case was heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates court on Tuesday, May 10.
He was charged with theft after trespassing into Farmfoods Limited and stealing joints of meat to the value of £20.
Hutchinson was given a community order and made to pay £20 in compensation.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
- Shane Darren Urwin, 48, of High Street, Eston, Middlesbrough
Darren’s case was heard before Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 12.
He was charged with theft after stealing tools from B&Q to the value of £8,873.
Darren was fined £100 and made to pay £95 to victim services.

He was also under the period of a suspended sentence and was fined a further £20.
- Steven Green, 44, of Millbrook Avenue, Middlesbrough, Cleveland
Green’s case was heard at Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 12.
He was charged with theft after stealing boys boxer shorts from Tesco.
He was fined £80 and made to pay £34 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
- Stacey Vint, 32, of Strauss Road in Middlesbrough
Vint’s case was heard at Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 12.
She was charged with theft after stealing a purse containing two bank cards and cash to the value of £30.

She was fined £120 and made to pay £30 in compensation, £34 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.
She pleaded guilty to the offence.
- Christian Andras Patrick Byrne, 34, of Bush Street, Middlesbrough, Cleveland
Byrne’s case was heard at Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 12.
He was charged with theft after stealing steak to the value of £89.13 belonging Budgens Store.
He was fined £80 and made to pay £34 to victim services and £40 to Crown Prosecution Service.
Byrne pleaded guilty to the offence.
