OFFICERS are investigating a report of assault on Linthorpe Road outside Halifax bank in Middlesbrough.
The incident occurred on Saturday, May 7 at around 9:50pm.
A male suspect is believed to have approached the 48-year-old male victim and punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.
He was taken to hospital with severe bruising to his face and chest and head injuries. He is receiving ongoing treatment at hospital for these injuries.

The suspect is described as wearing blue jeans and had blonde hair, it is unknown whether he had a beard or not.
Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Victoria Dodds on 101, quoting incident number 078526.
