POLICE closed a busy bridge in Newcastle in what the managing director of Go North East described as an “awful incident.”
According to Martijn Gilbert, managing director of Go North East and East Yorkshire, police have closed High Level Bridge.
In a statement issued on his Twitter, he apoligised to customers facing disruption leaving Newcastle due to an “awful incident.”
The police re-opened the bridge at about 6.20pm and the incident has finished.
