THE body of a man has been found at a County Durham allotment, police have this morning confirmed.

Emergency services attended the site of St Oswald’s Allotment on Hylton Close, Newton Aycliffe, on Saturday (May 14) morning.

After dispatching multiple units to the scene, Durham Police discovered the body of a male.

It is believed that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death on the allotment.

Meanwhile, the police have confirmed they are not seeking any further investigatory information at this time.

A spokesperson from Durham Police said: “We received reports that a body of a man had been found at an allotment in Hylton Close, Newton Aycliffe, just after 9am on Saturday (May 14).

“It is not believed there were any suspicious circumstances and the man’s family have been informed.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
