A MAN who died after being hit by a lorry on a busy road has been named.
The crash, which happened in Woodland Road, Darlington, last month, saw a man in his 40s arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Police have now confirmed the identity of the man who was killed in the tragic incident.
Ian Raper, from Shildon, was at near the junction with Hollyhurst Road when he was involved in the collision on Friday, April 29.
The 49-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a lorry shortly before 10.10am.

Mr Raper was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.
There was a huge emergency response following the incident, which brought the area to a standstill as collision investigators worked on the scene.
The road was shut for several hours between Hollyhurst Road and Milbank Road.
The family of Mr Raper have asked for privacy as they come to terms with their loss.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “We can now confirm the identify of a man who tragically died following a collision on Woodland Road in Darlington on Friday, April 29.
“The incident, which involved a lorry and a pedestrian, happened shortly before 10.10am, near the junction with Hollyhurst Road.
“Ian Raper, 49, from Shildon was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“His family have asked for privacy as they come to terms with their loss.
“A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.”
