A MAN was taken to hospital under arrest after a car crashed into a house in a County Durham village last night (May 5).
A black Volkswagen Passat smashed through a wooden fence before colliding with a brick wall of the house, showering debris around the scene, in Trimdon Colliery, at about 11.30pm Last night.
Durham Police said the driver fled the scene after the collision, at a junction between Commercial Street and Rodwell Street - but was arrested in the area a short while later.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham for treatment.
One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "I'd just been to put bins out and saw a load of people in the street and police.
"It looks like the car has gone into the side of the house at the top, not sure if just gone through the fence or house. Hope no one is hurt."
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "At 11.17pm last night (May 5) we were called to reports of a black Volkswagen Passat having gone into a brick wall of a house at Church View, Trimdon Colliery.
"It has created an open gap in the house. There were reports of debris on the kitchen floor. The suspected driver left the scene made off on foot.
"One person was detained in area at about 11.40am. No one was injured in the house."
"The arrested male was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham because the airbags had deployed."
The vehicle was recovered at about midnight.
