POLICE have issued an appeal after a teenage man was apparently attacked leaving a nightclub early today.
Detectives have asked clubgoers or passers-by to assist inquiries into the incident at the exit to the Empire in Middlesbrough at about 2.10am.
A 19-year-old man was leaving the Corporation Road venue in the town centre when he felt a sharp pain in his back from an unknown cause.
Police stressed it was not being considered as a spiking incident.
The victim was taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he is said to be in, “a poorly but stable condition”.
Three males, two aged 16 and one also 19 have been arrested on suspicion of assault and are being questioned.

Inquiries are said to be continuing and Middlesbrough CID is appealing for witnesses, or anyone else with information, to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number.
They are asked to quote the reference number 072439.
