THE ambulance service has confirmed that the serious incident on Woodland Road in Darlington this morning involved a collision between a lorry and pedestrian.
The road has now reopened but was shut for several hours after emergency services were first called to the scene near the junction of Hollyhurst Road at around 10am today.

A NEAS spokesperson said this afternoon: "We were called at 10.03am this morning to Woodland Road in Darlington to reports of a road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.
"We sent a rapid response paramedic to the scene."
Durham Police have confirmed that a lorry driver has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
Diversions have been in place throughout the day and the road reopened around 4.30pm.
