THE upcoming local elections in North Yorkshire are expected to see residents vote for who they want to represent them among 90 councillors, we’ve pulled together the full list of candidates that people can vote for next week.
On Thursday, May 5 residents will be voting for the councillors set to represent them as North Yorkshire Council moves into a single-council in April 2023.

The aim of the new council is to be a “strong voice in the North” and “bring together the best services for residents and businesses.”
As part of a devolution deal, the new single-council will see the removal of the two-tier system of local government bringing a range of changes to the region.
North Yorkshire residents will be able to vote from 90 councillors as to who they want to take them into the new form of local government who will be elected to 89 new divisions.

The 90 councillors voted in this May will serve the final year of the county council and will then automatically serve as part of the single council for the next four years.
