A NORTH EAST man was fined over £200 after going almost 20mph over the speed limit on the M1 last year.

Nathan Steel, 29 of Brookfield Avenue in Middlesbrough had his case heard at magistrates court on Tuesday, April 19 with the offence.

He was charged with speeding when he was caught by an automatic camera going 89mph in a 70mph zone on the M1.

The case was heard by magistrates court on Tuesday, April 19. Steel was fined £230 as a result of the offence. He was also charged with failing to give information relating to the identity of the driver of the vehicle at the time but this charge was withdrawn.

He pleaded guilty to the speeding offence and was made to pay £34 to victim services and £90 in court costs. His driving licence was also endorsed with three penalty points.
