A TRAIN operator has announced changes to its timetable from next month.
Northern will introduce the new schedule from Sunday, May 15.
There will be an increased number of trains between Darlington and Saltburn.
However, services between Middlesbrough and Whitby will be reduced.
Northern said the changes were aimed and delivering reliability and punctuality. It says it is still feeling the effects of Covid, with increased sickness and a backlog of training for drivers making it more difficult to maintain routes.

“We’ve made decisions about our timetables based on the levels of resource we have available and prioritising the routes with the highest customer demand, and which support the region’s economic growth.”
She added: “We fully understand the role we play in keeping people on the move and I am asking our customers to familiarise themselves with the new timetables, and to check carefully before any journeys to ensure their journeys go as smoothly as possible.”
