A CLEVELAND Police officer will go on trial later this year facing two charges of corruption.
Robert Coffey denies two counts of corrupt/improper exercise of police powers and privileges by a constable.
In October 2020, Teesside Crown Court heard the allegations relate to his failure to investigate a claim of assault between March 22 and 25, 2019 at Hartlepool.
On March 24, 2019, it's alleged the defendant falsified an entry on a police incident log.
Due to his connections to the Cleveland force area the trial was moved to Newcastle Crown Court when he was due to go on trial this week.
Following a short hearing, the court ruled that Coffey's trial must be adjourned for a later date.
The judge scheduled a new date of Monday, August 8, where he will appear at Newcastle Crown Court.
