POLICE have issued a further statement following an incident on a North East beach on Easter Monday.
Two women are still being treated at James Cook University Hospital following the incident at Saltburn beach last night.
It happened at about 8.17pm, when a car left the road and went onto the beach, injuring a number of people.
A man in his 70s was arrested last night.

The promenade was reopened at about 3am today (Tuesday, April 19).
Police say a blue Audi left the road and went onto the beach near the pier. It was pictured in the sea.
In an updated statement on Tuesday, a spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Police enquiries are continuing into an incident at Saltburn beach near to the promenade, after a number of people were injured by a car around 8:17pm on Monday 18th April.
“Officers received reports that pedestrians on and near to the beach had been injured when a blue Audi had left the road and gone onto the beach, near to the Pier.
“Two women are still receiving treatment at James Cook University Hospital for serious leg injuries, and two people received minor injuries and did not need medical treatment at the scene.
“A man in his 70s remains under arrest.
“Following enquiries, police tape remains in the area and the road and the promenade were reopened around 3am this morning (Tuesday 19th April).
“Anyone who saw the blue Audi, who witnessed the incident or who may have footage of the incident, is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.”
