ESSENTIAL resurfacing will start on the A174/A1053 Greystones Roundabout near Old Lackenby, Middlesbrough, later this month.
National Highways will carry out the vital safety work from Sunday April 24.
The work will be happeneing six nights a week, Sundays to Fridays, for three weeks, excluding the early May bank holiday.
National Highways Project Manager Michael Morgan said: “This work will ensure the continued provision of a safe, smooth surface on this busy roundabout. During the closures we advise people to plan their journeys, allow extra time and follow the clearly-signed diversions.”

The work will be carried out in two phases with a two-day gap in between to allow traffic management to be changed.
During the first phase the following closures will be in place from 8pm to 6am each night:
- The western side of Greystones Roundabout;
- The eastbound carriageway of the A174 Parkway from the A172 Stokesley Road interchange at Marton to Greystones Roundabout;
- The northbound carriageway of the A1053 from Greystones Roundabout to the A1085 roundabout;
- The A174/A172 eastbound entry slip road; and
- The A174/A171 eastbound entry slip road.

During the second phase, the following closures will be in place also from 8pm to 6am each night:
- The eastern side of Greystones Roundabout; and
- The southbound carriageway of the A1053 from the A1085 roundabout to Greystones Roundabout.
During the day there may be reduced speed limits due to traffic travelling on the temporary surface.
