COVID cases have fallen across the majority of the North East and North Yorkshire in the last week, according to the latest Government statistics.
The figures show the number of confirmed cases across the UK in the seven days up to Tuesday, April 5, along with the infection rate per 100,000 people in the week up to March 31.

And they reveal that on the whole, confirmed Covid cases have reduced across the North East and North Yorkshire over the past seven days.
Of the 11 local authority areas in our part of the region, seven have seen a reduction in cases over the last week while four areas have seen an increase.
York has seen the sharpest decline in confirmed cases, with a reduction of 20.4 per cent on the previous week.
The four areas that have seen an increase in Covid cases are Sunderland, Richmondshire, Hartlepool and Newcastle.
Of these, Richmondshire has seen the sharpest rise, with an increase in confirmed cases of 3.6 per cent compared to the previous week.
