POLICE and Scarborough Borough Council have issued a warning over a bogus charity collection appeal targeting people making donations to Ukraine.
The council issued a statement on Facebook making people aware of the scam which they were warned of by North Yorkshire Police.

Scammers claim to be part of the “Ukraine appeal” and ask people to put donation bags out for collection.
However, Scarborough council has advised that anyone who might have put a bag out for collection to “please take it back in to ensure any donations gets to those who need it most.”
A spokesperson for the council added: “If you have concerns about anything you get through your door claiming to be for a charity then please check with ourselves or the police."
