FILM crews are set to descend onto Darlington next week as DCI Vera Stanhope solves another gruesome death for the hugely-popular ITV show.
The town centre will be transformed into a set as Brenda Blethyn, who plays DCI Stanhope, and cast and crew arrive for filming for the twelfth series of Vera.

It comes as Blethyn and cast have been spotted around the North East in recent weeks prompting huge crowds of people desperate to catch a glimpse.

So far only basic details of DCI Vera Stanhope's visit to Darlington have been released with filming expected to start at 1.30pm on Tuesday, April 12.
Where is filming taking place and can anyone watch?
A synopsis for the episode or series 12 has not yet been revealed, but the majority of filming will take place in the Town Hall at Feethams.
In a statement from Darlington Borough Council last night, they confirmed people were welcome to come and view filming, but as long as it is done from a safe distance.

They said: "Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope and the team are heading to Darlington next week to film an episode for Series 12.
"If you’d love to see what happens behind the scenes and maybe catch a glimpse of Brenda and her co-stars, filming is taking place at the Town Hall on Tuesday 12 April from 1.30pm.
"No, the team do not need any extras, we’ve already asked the question, twice!
"The area will be cordoned off and we ask that everyone respects the filming process."
Vera fans are expected to be treated to two more episodes from series 11 later this year, although there has not yet been any word on an exact air date for series 12.
As the return of ITV Vera was confirmed earlier this year, dozens of fans shared their excitement with some left in surprise at yet another installment of the show.
One said: "Yay I can't wait to watch more Vera. Love this programme and love trying to work out the locations."
Another person said: "Another series? I hope so. It's so nice to have entertaining drama that's not like the others."
