SHOPKEEPERS are being asked to get involved in a crime prevention scheme following a rise in thefts.
Police in Crook, in County Durham, say there has been a rise in shoplifting in the town.
Officers would like to set up a “shop watch” scheme aimed at preventing crime and other antisocial behvaiour.

Retailers interested in getting involved are asked to contact PCSO Charlotte Whitby to find out more.
Crook Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The main object is to combat crime and other criminal or anti-social activities.
“It also, in many cases, provides better communication between retailers and the local police and can provide a much needed forum for the discussion and solution of many retail-related problems.”
The market town has been experiencing increased antisocial behaviour in recent months.
