STAFF at a Darlington bar have successfully raised over £1000 for the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal with their Mother’s Day raffle, open mic nights and stand-up comedy nights.

Plenty of Darlington businesses wanted to get involved in the Mother’s Day raffle organised by Dr.Inks on Coniscliffe Road, with raffle prizes donated from businesses including Darlington Hippodrome, Guru Boutique, Be Premiere Hair and Leggs Fashion.

Daniel Middleton, the manager at Dr. Inks came up with the idea for a Mother’s Day raffle and after that alone raised £1240, and open mic nights and stand-up comedy nights brought in more cash, meaning a total of £1543 was raised for Ukraine.

Mr Middleton said: “I thought the raffle would be popular but I was surprised at how many businesses in the town wanted to get involved.

“Most of the money we raised was from the raffle but we raised some extra from the open mic nights and comedy nights.

“In just two weeks we managed to sell loads of raffle tickets so it’s great that so many people got involved and bought them.”

Cllr. Cyndi Hughes, Mayor of Darlington was there to show her support for the cause when the raffle numbers were drawn last weekend.

“Pleased to offer a heartfelt, mayoral ‘well done’ to everyone involved.”
