HOME Bargains will open a new County Durham store later this month – bringing a £1m investment to the region and 40 new employment opportunities.
The discount giant, which has over 575 outlets across the UK, will unveil its newest shop on Staindrop Road in Barnard Castle at 8am on Saturday, April 9.
The 1,2841 sq. ft store will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks, and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Jade Hawkes, the new store manager, has worked for Home Bargains since 2008, working her way up from team member to manager and has worked in five different stores previously.
She said: “We are delighted to be opening this brand new store in the heart of Barnard Castle, opening up local jobs and supporting a fantastic charity in the process.
“The work The TRC Hub does to provide much-needed activities for young people across the region is fantastic, and we only hope the donation will aid the team in continuing their important work.”
“Barnard Castle will be a great location for us and we’re proud to be able to offer local people top-branded goods at exceptionally low prices.”

Alongside the opening of the Barnard Castle store, Home Bargains has already made itself a good neighbour by donating £2,000 to a local charity, TRC The Hub, which has been delivering an extensive programme of activities to young people in the Teesdale area for over 30 years.
Rachel Tweddle from TCR The Hub added: “Thank you ever so much for the donation, we really appreciate it.
“We work hard to ensure that we deliver meaningful and good quality services to the local community, based on their needs.
“This donation will enable essential services such as Food Provision, Family Activities and Youth Groups to continue.”
