A NORTH-EAST housing association has announced the completion of seven new homes for affordable rent in Durham.
North Star Housing Group, in partnership with Story Homes and Durham County Council, is providing the high-quality, two-bedroom houses at Burdon Place, in the Priory View site, in Finchale.
They are the second and final phase of properties to be delivered, with the first phase of six properties being completed last November.
The new properties have proved to be extremely popular with a high number of applications.
And Amy Weatherburn, who is due to move in to one of the latest properties, told North Star’s housing officer, Clare Ambrose: “I'm grateful for the opportunity of a fresh start with my new baby.”
The houses are a great addition to North Star’s portfolio of stock, in a prime location within Durham. They have been constructed to a very high standard with modern kitchens and bathrooms and are an ideal starter home.
“Angela Lockwood, North Star CEO said “We are committed to building high quality, affordable homes to help tackle the housing crisis. We have ambitious plans to invest in building great homes to meet local need. These new homes are evidence of how great partnership working can make a difference to local people”.
Paula Hartford, Land & Technical Co Ordinator, at Story Homes said: “This is the first development that we have worked on with North Star Housing Group and it’s been a pleasure.
“Our teams have worked well together, and everything has run smoothly. We’re delighted that our high-quality homes have proven so popular, and we wish the new tenants many happy years.”
Councillor James Rowlandson, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for resources, investments and assets, said: “As part of our vision for the County Durham Plan, we want to create more and better jobs, help people to live longer and better lives, and create more connected communities across the county.
“Ensuring that our residents have access to affordable housing across the county is a key factor in achieving that vision. Everyone has the right to a home which makes them feel safe and secure and in developing more affordable housing we can provide better opportunities for all.”
North Star is committed to investing in the local communities and providing homes that meet diverse and evolving needs. For more information, please go to: www.northstarhg.co.uk
