A 'BOUTIQUE' designer retailer especially for kids has just opened inside the Metrocentre - and it stocks major names including Balmain and Balenciaga.
The new Kids Cavern store has opened inside the former Pret a Manger and Henleys units in the lower Platinum Mall of the Metrocentre.
It follows on from the successful opening of four stores in major cities, including Liverpool, across the UK in recent months.

The 7,000 sq ft site opened earlier this week after workers could be seen putting the finishing touches to the store.
Danny Shelvey, Kids Cavern managing director, said: “The new Kids Cavern store will bring the very best luxury childrenswear to Metrocentre.
"North East consumers have a keen eye for fashion and are very savvy shoppers in touch with the latest trends, so with over 120 designer names stocked in-store and prices starting from around £20, we are confident we will meet the needs of brand-loving parents."

Although it stocks clothes from £20, designer brands include Balmain, Balenciaga, Burberry, Marc Jacobs and Givenchy.
Mr Shelvey said: “We found people sometimes have unpleasant memories of shopping at designer department stores, so we wanted to break the mould with a relaxed and informal experience for our customers, giving them the chance to shop our products in a nice, enjoyable environment with the help of our knowledgeable and approachable staff.
“We carefully designed the store ourselves by tapping into our years of retail experience and travelling, allowing us to create a unique shopping space that we too would like to visit.
"Not only that, but we have also always ensured our buyers’ fingers are on the pulse, allowing us to bring the very best and latest trends to our customers.
"We can’t wait to welcome Metrocentre shoppers through our doors to experience Kids Cavern for themselves.”
Kids Cavern is joined by a string of recent openings in the Metrocentre including US-based sports retailer, Lids and women’s footwear and accessories retailer, Carvela and Castore, who are expected to open a Newcastle United store this week.
This follows the announcement of other high-profile lettings including the region’s only H&M Home and H Beauty from Harrods which will open in the summer.
