POLICE officers have launched an investigation after a woman in her 80s died in County Durham earlier month after a car collided with the pensioner.
The woman, who was a pedestrian, collided with a white BMW outside Cockton Hill News, on Cockton Hill Road, Bishop Auckland, at 2.30pm on Friday, March 11.
Following the incident, the 80-year-old was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but did not recover, with the road closed to cars for several hours after the crash.

An investigation by Durham Constabulary is currently underway, with officers looking into how the BMW, which was travelling from the town centre towards the Watling Street crossroads, made contact with the pedestrian.
