A DOUBLE decker bus has broken down in the middle of a Darlington road, blocking it off to traffic both ways.
The Arriva Sapphire bus broke down on Park Lane this morning, near the junction with Smithfield Road.
The bus was stood for around an hour in traffic caused by a house fire on Park Lane this morning and that contributed to it breaking down.
An Arriva spokesman said: "Unfortunately, one of our buses serving the X26 route did suffer a mechanical issue this morning, which was resolved by engineers as quickly as possible.
"The bus had been stuck in stationary traffic for some time, as a result of an incident on Park Lane, prior to this issue happening.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this caused for passengers and motorists."
