THERE has been major disruption on the rail network this morning following a derailment in the region.
The Transpennine Express vehicle came off the tracks in Newcastle.
It happened during a routine depot move at the Heaton facility and is affecting rail journeys across the region.

No-one was injured in the incident.
The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has been informed.
A spokesperson for TransPennine Express: “There will be major disruption to our services between Newcastle and Liverpool/ Edinburgh this morning, following a derailment during a routine depot move by one of our trains at Newcastle depot.
“Thankfully, no-one was injured, and we are now working with our partners to gets services up and running again as a soon as we can.
“The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been informed.
“Customers planning on travelling on affected routes are asked to avoid travel this morning and instead, travel this afternoon.”
National Rail says it expects there to be disruption until 11am.
It said: "Lines have reopened following a derailment within the depot in the Newcastle area which resulted in some lines being blocked. Trains may continue to be cancelled or revised whilst services return to normal."
A spokesperson for the Rail Accident Investigation Branch said: “The RAIB has been notified of an derailment which occurred this morning at Heaton depot.
"RAIB has requested the railway to secure evidence relating to the derailment, this will be reviewed by the Branch and the appropriate course of action decided in the coming days.”
LNER says tickets can be used on TransPennine Express or Crosscountry services.
Northern says people travelling between Newcastle and Sunderland may use their ticket on Tyne and Wear Metro services.
Rail replacement transport is in operation on some services.
TransPennine says tickets can be used on LNER and CrossCountry services between York, Newcastle and Edinburgh.
People may also use tickets on Northern and East Midlands Railway between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester.
