A WOMAN was rushed to hospital yesterday (March 17) evening following a serious road traffic collision in Easington Colliery that saw the air ambulance get called out to the scene.
The incident, which occurred at around 5.45pm on Seaside Lane South, saw emergency services dispatched to the collision.
Police officers, paramedics and a critical care team from the air ambulance service all attended to make the scene safe and attend to the casualties of the collision.

The services of the Great North East Air Ambulance weren’t required, and the patient was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital by road ambulance.
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 5.36pm yesterday evening to reports of a road traffic incident off Seaside Lane South, Peterlee.
“We dispatched a clinical care manager, an ambulance crew, one crew from our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
“We took one female patient by road to Sunderland Royal Hospital for further treatment."
A spokesperson for Great North East Air Ambulance Service added: “Our team were activated at 5.44pm yesterday to reports of a road traffic collision in Easington Colliery, Peterlee. They arrived on scene at 5.56pm but they were stood down and returned to base.”
Durham Constabulary has been contacted for a comment.
