A TEESSIDE doctor who was cleared of sex assaults is now facing a misconduct hearing.

Dr Amirul Haque was cleared in 2018 of sexually assaulting five women he had been accused of attacking over a 10-day period.

However, a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service is due to hold a hearing this month into alleged misconduct between 2013 and 2016.

It is alleged between May 2013 and January 2016, the Stockton GP behaved in a sexually motivated way towards three female patients.

It is also alleged that on July 19, 2016, Dr Haque, who practised in Stockton, Birmingham and Dudley, accepted a role which required him to be a registered healthcare professional when he knew that his registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) had been suspended.

It is alleged that Dr Haque subsequently made untrue assertions regarding the concerns relating to his fitness to practise and it is alleged that his actions were dishonest.

The hearing is listed to take place this month.

In 2018, Dr Haque, was found not guilty of five separate charges by a jury after an 11-day trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Haque, of Ladypool Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, denied committing five counts of assault while training in general practice at a surgery in the Dudley area of the West Midlands.

Jurors deliberated for almost eight hours before acquitting Haque, who denied any wrongdoing and said he acted appropriately during consultations with the patients.
