A MAIN road in Middlesbrough has had its speed limit cut to 30mph from 40mph.
Drivers might be caught out as the A172 Dixons Bank is now 30mph from the Southern Cross junction down past Poole roundabout to the Old Stokesley Road roundabout.

From the Old Stokesley Road roundabout to the edge of Nunthorpe village it is 30mph and then 20mph along West Side, then it goes back up to 30mph from the village along Old Stokesley Road to the boundary with North Yorkshire.
A Middlesbrough Council spokesperson said: “This speed limit reduction from 40mph to 30mph is one of a number of changes to speed limits being introduced on roads across the town.
“These changes are appropriate to the characteristics of the roads in question, and to ensure our approach is consistent with the latest Department for Transport guidance on setting local speed limits.
“Ward councillors, Nunthorpe Parish Council and Cleveland Police have been fully involved in this process and support the new speed limits.”
The speed limit on Brass Cattle Lane, from just south of the junction with Fulford Way to the B1365 Stokesley Road junction, will be reduced to 40mph.
