A WOMAN has been hospitalised after she was seriously bitten by a dog outside a supermarket in County Durham yesterday (March 9) morning.
Police officers from Durham Constabulary are currently investigating after the woman was attacked by the animal outside Co-op on Seaside Lane in Easington at around 11.25am.
The dangerous incident, which is currently been looked into by the police force, led to the woman receiving treatment in hospital for leg injuries.
Following the incident, the police are looking for information about the attack and for witnesses to come forward.

The dog involved in the attack is believed to be a Pitbull breed.
A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: "Officers are investigating after a woman was bitten on the leg by a dog in Easington yesterday."
"The incident happened outside the Co-op on Seaside Lane shortly before 11.25am and is believed to have involved a Pitbull type dog."
"The woman received hospital treatment for the injuries sustained during the incident."
