TEESSIDE Sexual Health Service in Stockton has been awarded a ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The service, based at Lawson Street Health Centre, was rated ‘good’ overall and ‘good’ in each of the individual categories; safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs, and well-led.
Inspectors made special mention of the care provided by colleagues. They described staff as treating patients “with compassion and kindness,” respecting “their privacy and dignity,” and taking account of their individual needs.
Debra Adams, General Manager for sexual health services across HCRG Care Group, said: “I am delighted that we have received such a positive CQC report, which highlights the high level of care we provide to patients, our effective community engagement with hard to reach groups, and how the service is well led with a positive staff culture.
"I’m extremely proud of our team, this is a testament to their hard work day in, day out to deliver quality care and make a positive difference to the lives of people in Teesside.”

The health and social care regulator also praised the way that the service adjusted during the Covid-19 pandemic.
During Covid restrictions, the service moved to an appointment system, which proved beneficial in being able to respond to demand and see patients more quickly.
Teesside Sexual Health Service offers specialist sexual health services in the Teesside area to adults and young people aged 13 years and over.
The service is run by HCRG Care Group, commissioned by Stockton Borough Council on behalf of Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland Local Authorities, Tees Valley Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England.
The CQC carried out the inspection in January of this year and all HCRG Care Group’s inspected services across the country are rated either ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’.
