A MAN who denies being at the wheel of a car during a chase with police is to stand trial later this year.
Joshua Baker is accused of driving a Volkswagen Golf dangerously having failed to stop for police on Lanchester Road, County Durham, at 9.40am on Wednesday June 9 last year.
A chase is said to have followed taking in Edge Lane, between Maiden Law and Burnhope, and Delight Row, in Dipton, near Stanley.
Police pursuers are said to have lost sight of the Golf but located it later that day at an address near to where the defendant was found an arrested.

Appearing at a plea hearing at Durham Crown Court, the 22-year-old defendant, of Lambton Gardens, Burnopfield, denied dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
The court was told the driving while disqualified offence is not likely to be pursued as the charge was “laid” out of time, but a trial will take place for the dangerous driving allegation.
A trial date, starting on Monday July 4, was agreed and Recorder Simon Goldberg bailed the defendant in the meantime.
