THE Northern Echo has opened an online book of condolence after the tragic passing of a Sunderland AFC fan who died last month.

Today (March 1), the club confirmed Michael Waggott had died after a medical episode at the Stadium of Light on February 22.

The game had seen Sunderland play against Burton Albion at Sunderland's home ground with the match paused due to the incident.

In a statement, the club paid their tributes saying he will be forever "red and white" and "remembered, always."
