A PERVERT who was caught using social media the day after he breached a court order banning him from internet access has been jailed.

Jake Addison was given a conditional discharge when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court on January 20 for breaching the terms of his sexual harm prevention order which was imposed on him in September last year.

But the following day, the 20-year-old was back online using his Xbox to access social media networks and sharing messages with people.

The court heard how Addison conducted a number of online conversations between January 21 and 28 after a visit from police officers monitoring his behaviour uncovered his online activities.

The defendant was found to be using Snapchat where messages and images are automatically deleted.

Addison, of Dalby Close, Redcar, admitted the latest breach of his SHPO when he appeared before magistrates following his arrest.

Andrew Turton, in mitigation, said his client is ‘realistic’ that custody was the likely outcome for his latest offence but added that there was no evidence that any of the online messages had been ‘overtly sexual’.

He said: “He is now, unfortunately, accumulating a number of offences all arising out of that original order and offence but a man who is still suffering from immaturity and limited life experience.”

Judge Paul Watson QC, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, jailed Addison for 18 weeks for the ‘blatant’ breach.

He added: “You have just turned 20, you are before me for the single breach of your sexual harm prevention order that was made on you in September last year. You were, in effect, blatantly ignoring the order that.

“You were before this court for breach of that order on January 20 and either within a day, or at most days, you were again in breach of the order.

“This is a deliberate and persistent breach aggravated by the fact you had only just been made the subject of a conditional discharge and committed the offence within days of your appearance in this court.”
