POUNDLAND is putting the finishing touches to its new store at Teesside Park in Stockton, which will be its biggest in the UK when it opens this Saturday.
The new 19,000 square feet store opens at 8am on Saturday (February 26) when the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Kevin Faulks, will carry out the official opening.
Poundland and Teesside Park’s owner, British Land, have jointly agreed to make a donation to the Mayor’s charities: health and wellbeing charity Sprouts Community Food Charity, and Remembering Rebecca, which supports children and families affected by neurological conditions.
The 65 colleagues at Poundland Teesside Park have spent the week making final preparations to get the store ready to welcome customers through the door.

Over a third of the store will be dedicated to PEP&CO clothing and home, offering womenswear, menswear and childrenswear from the UK’s fastest growing clothing brand.
Austin Cooke, Poundland’s retail and transformation director, said: “We are very grateful to the Mayor, Councillor Kevin Faulks, for agreeing to open what will be a landmark store for Poundland.
“We’re looking forward to saying hello to customers at this fantastic store which shows off Poundland at its best.”
Catherine Furlong, centre director at Teesside Park, said: “We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Poundland, and we’re delighted that they’ve chosen Teesside Park as the home for its largest store in Britain, bringing more than 60 new job opportunities for local people.
“Supporting our local community is important to us, which is why we’re pleased to be able to support the Mayor’s Benevolent Fund alongside Poundland.”
