A GOVERNMENT map has revealed the areas which are currently at risk of flooding as dozens of alerts are currently in place.

The "live flood map" shows several warnings currently in place as the North East and North Yorkshire is braced for yet more severe weather.

It comes just 24 hours after Storm Franklin brought chaos and disruption to the region's highways, transport and power.

Updated this afternoon, there are no "severe" or "danger to life" flood warnings in our part of the world, but a number of flood warnings where flooding is still expected.

Many cover Hambleton and Richmondshire with varying levels of severity from flooding expected to flooding being a risk.

We've looked at the map from our area to bring you the list of alerts - as of 2pm on Tuesday (February 22).

Flood alert for Upper River Swale

A statement said: "The flood alert remains in force for the Upper River Swale. Water levels have dropped and the river is now below levels of concern.

"However, there may still be standing water, particularly on low lying land near rivers. We are monitoring the forecast and are expecting to remove this alert on Tuesday morning 22/02/22.

"Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."

Flood alert for Lower River Swale

A statement said: "A flood alert remains in force for the Lower River Swale, this is due to high river levels in response to recent rainfall.

"Heavy rain has fallen over the weekend and into Monday, 21/02/22. Flooding is expected to affect low lying land near the Brough Beck and River Swale, particularly around The

"River Swale and tributaries from Catterick Bridge to the confluence with the River Ure. Levels are expected to remain high overnight, but are not expected to rise further. We are monitoring river levels closely."

Flood alert for River Wiske and tributaries

A statement said: "This flood alert remains in force as a result of heavy rainfall during Sunday 20/02/2022, and the backing up of the River Swale.

"River levels have peaked and fallen through Monday 21/02/2022.

"Flooding is still possible, with low lying land and access roads most likely to be affected around Kirby Wiske. We are monitoring river levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."

Flood warning for River Swale at Howe village and by Skipton Bridge (flooding expected)

A statement said: "The flood warning for the River Swale at Howe village and by Skipton Bridge remains in force. River levels are falling but will remain higher than usual overnight and into Tuesday morning, 22/02/2022.

"Flooding will affect locations near the River Swale, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Howe village and properties along and off the B6267 and the A61.

"Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."

Flood warning for River Swale at Topcliffe (flooding expected)

A statement said: "The flood warning for the River Swale at Topcliffe remains in force. River levels are now falling but will remain higher than usual overnight and into Tuesday morning, 22/02/2022.

"Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Swale, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around properties at Topcliffe and Topcliffe Mill.

"Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. 

Flood warning for River Swale at Howe village and by Skipton Bridge

A statement said: "The flood warning for the River Swale at Howe village and by Skipton Bridge remains in force. River levels are falling but will remain higher than usual overnight and into Tuesday morning, 22/02/2022.

"Flooding will affect locations near the River Swale, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Howe village and properties along and off the B6267 and the A61. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water."
