A DONATION of flooring from a North East retailer is helping a charity to continue protecting the welfare of animals in its care.

Flooring Superstore in Stockton has made the donation of almost £500 worth of laminate flooring to help the Darlington and District branch of the RSPCA carry out vital refurbishment of its offices in Eaglescliffe.

As rescued animals are often brought into office, the RSPCA needed something which was more suitable than the old carpet which was on the floor.

RSPCA officer Shane Lynn said: “The animals are brought here whilst we arrange a place of safety for them and, understandably, they can be frightened and have little accidents which leave a mess on the floor.

“And if they have been neglected, in some cases they can bring in fleas which hop onto the carpet and lay eggs, which is not nice for them or the staff.

“The new flooring has made such a significant difference because it is so much easier to clean and doesn’t leave any lingering smells or anything else, so we are incredibly grateful to Flooring Superstore for their support.

“The money we would have had to spend on the new flooring can now be diverted to other areas of animal welfare.”

Flooring Superstore Regional Manager Greig Anderson said: “We’re pleased to have been able to support such a respected charity like the RSPCA which does an amazing job protecting animals across the country.

“And the fact we have been able to help local branch close to our Stockton store and head office in County Durham makes it even nicer.”
