A MAN was found with a stash of cash and cocaine in his car when he was stopped by police while on his way to a football match, a court was told.
Andrew Thompson was stopped by Response officers at Medomsley, Consett, in August 2019 following reports his vehicle was believed to be involved in the supply of class A drugs.
PC Martain Anderson searched Thompson’s VW Golf and discovered a quantity of class A drugs and more than £10,000 in cash.
Thompson, of Braeside, Edmondsley, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Officers also searched his address where a quantity of white powder, scales, small plastic bags and a BB gun was found.
The 28-year-old pleaded guilty at Durham Crown Court to possessing a Class A drug with intent and of offering to supply a Class A drug.
He pleaded not guilty to a criminal property charge, but was convicted following a two-day trial.
He was sentenced on Friday to 38 months in prison.
Judge Ray Singh ordered forfeiture (& destruction) of the drugs recovered by police, as well as the forfeiture of the £10,000 recovered.

PC Anderson, now of the Road Policing Unit said: “Hopefully this sentence will act as a deterrent for anyone thinking of becoming involved in the sale of illegal Class A drugs.
“I’d like to reassure residents that we will continue to proactively target drug dealers who bring nothing but misery to residents.
“I hope that Thompson will have time to reflect on his poor life choices behind bars and take every opportunity to change his behaviour in the future.”
