A MAN and woman have been arrested and released after the death of a baby in County Durham.
The pair, both in their 20s, were arrested in connection with the death of the infant.
Emergency services were called to an address in Chilton, near Ferryhill, on Wednesday at around 2pm.
A baby was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle but later died after arrival.
Police on Wednesday confirmed the baby's death was unexplained.

An air ambulance was also called to the scene and was spotted landing at the nearby Chilton Skatepark.
A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: “A man and a woman, both in their 20s, have been arrested in connection with the death of a baby from Chilton, on Wednesday, February 16, and have since been released while enquiries continue.”
