A MAN who suffered a neck wound during an alleged attack is in an induced coma, a court heard.

Magistrates sitting in South Tyneside heard Steven Finch was injured in Bar Bloo, in Derwent Street, at 8pm on Sunday, February 13.

Rory Witten, 39, appeared in court this morning (Wednesday) charged with attempted murder.

Witten, of Stavordale Street, Seaham, is also charged with possession of a bladed article.

He did not enter pleas to the charges.

Magistrates remanded him into custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday, March 16.

No application for bail was made.
