A CCTV image of the suspect has been released.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “The rider of the moped continued downhill and was last seen turning onto a footpath near Scotswood Road.
“While we appreciate the image is not very clear, we do hope that it may help identify the person on the bike and they may be able to help with our enquiries.
“The rider or anyone who was in the area at the time or has any dashcam footage of the incident, can contact us via the Tell Us Something pages of the Northumbria Police website or contact 101 quoting reference NP-20220209-0587.”
