OSBIT, the offshore wind technology developer, has expanded its team with the addition of more than forty new employees since it was acquired by Venterra Group in October last year.

The company, which is continuing to gear up for significant growth in its global markets, has added twenty-four engineers to its team, as well as four support staff, and six contractors.

The appointments include experienced mechanical and control engineers, with a background in the offshore industry, to bolster the business’s project teams.

Four of its new graduate engineers are already familiar with Osbit, having previously undertaken student placements with the business during their degrees.

The business has also upped its student intake for 2022, with seven mechanical engineering undergraduates undertaking placements from January until the summer.

Osbit Joint Managing Director Brendon Hayward said: “Our capabilities have never been more valuable and in demand as they are now, with accelerating growth of offshore wind farms across the world. To enable us to keep delivering the technology the industry needs to meet net zero targets, we must continue building our team. Offshore wind is really taking off across the world now, with the UK as the world leader, and this is a great sector in which to build a career."

BNP Paribas Real Estate has appointed Aidan Baker and John Peart to lead its North East team.

The duo have a combined 35 years of experience, and have been promoted as Co-heads of the Newcastle office from David Furniss as he steps back from the role after 20 years’ service, though remains with BNPPRE to focus on client-facing work and development consultancy.

Aidan will lead commercial markets, with John overseeing Lease Advisory. They will work together to expand BNPPRE’s growth plans across the region, with plans to further strengthen their offer with new additions and further development to their valuation, lease advisory and building consultancy team.

Aidan said: “We are bolstering BNPPRE’s activity across the North East in sharing this mandate, giving us more of a monopoly over our client servicing, and facilitating those top-level decisions which can be made at a speed which meets the needs of the market post-pandemic.”

John added: “Increasingly real estate is becoming more tactical in delivery as the owner and occupier trade-off in light of flexibility and what constitutes a strong offer becomes ever-important, and investor allocation towards alternatives increases. We look forward to leading, growing and developing the team to meet this shift.”

“Business growth will also be a key area of focus, particularly across our audit clients, where we have continued to expand our client base year on year.”
