POLICE have cordoned off a Darlington street while officers carry out an investigation. 

Warren Street, near Darlington Memorial Hospital, is currently taped off with access also limited to the surrounding area. 

Officers have been seen knocking on doors on nearby Greenbank Road. 

A spokesperson for Durham Police later confirmed a man was taken to hospital on Sunday morning after sustaining "serious injuries".

It is believed the man suffered a medical episode in the early hours of the morning.

Where is the cordon? 

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: “Police attended Warren Street, in Darlington, in the early hours of Sunday morning, after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man.

“The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital and is currently being treated for serious injuries, which officers believe were sustained during a medical episode.”
