A MAJOR industrial estate could be built next to Amazon Darlington as plans for the huge site have been submitted.

Plans reveal how a 24-acre industrial and distribution park could transform the currently unoccupied land to the front of the retailer's warehouse in Symmetry Park.

Expected to hold a "range" of occupiers, the land is set to be redeveloped to include a number of units from 10,000 to 250,000 sq ft.

Richard Scott, industrial and logistics director, at Savills Newcastle - which is acting as the vendor - has been instructed to market 'Fabric Darlington.'

"With its well-established location and close proximity to transport links, Fabric Darlington is an ideal destination for occupiers looking to service supply chains across the region and further afield.

"With under a years’ worth of supply left across the North East and Yorkshire, developments such as Fabric are hugely welcome so we’re expecting to see good levels of demand.”

Simon Hawkins, director at Premcor, added: “Darlington is a location we know well and is strategically positioned to serve Tees Valley and the wider North East.

"Following the acquisition of Fabric and the submission of the outline planning application we look forward to delivering a best in class scheme which will we believe will be well received by the market.”

WSB has been appointed to market the roadside element of the development.
