A MAN who threatened shop staff has been arrested and charged.
Shortly before 6pm on January 23, North Yorkshire Police received reports that a man had entered the Sainsbury’s Local shop on Scarcroft Road in York and had threatened staff in order to get them to hand over money from the till.
The man made off with a substantial amount of cash, leaving the shop and running away.
Thanks to CCTV from the shop and some fast investigation work, the man was soon identified, arrested and charged less than 48 hours later.
The 24-year-old man from York was charged with robbery and remanded in custody.
