ONE of the leading train operators serving the region has maintained its ‘top employer in the UK’ status for the third year running.

The recognition for London North Eastern Railway (LNER) was made by the Top Employers’ Institute.

It marks its dedication to provide a better world of work for its staff, demonstrated by its human resources (HR) policies and its, “people practices”.

LNER is named among the 2022 Top Employers in recognition of its efforts in areas including, employee health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, work environment and performance development.

David Horne, LNER’s managing director, said: “Our people are the foundation of what we do as a business.

“We are passionate about creating the best possible employee experience for our colleagues to ensure we can ultimately provide the very best experience for our customers.

“To be recognised as a ‘Top Employer’ for the third year in a row is an achievement we are extremely proud to receive.”

He added: “The award celebrates our commitment to making LNER a great place to work.”

The Top Employers’ Institute is considered a global authority in recognising excellence in people practices, certifying organisations based on the participation and results of its HR Best Practices Survey.

LNER serves more than 50 stations on the East Coast route, totalling 956 miles, including several major towns and cities in North Yorkshire and the North East.
