A WOMAN died after she was struck by a bus in a County Durham village, police have this afternoon confirmed.
The woman, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene in Croxdale Front Street after the incident on Friday evening.
A Go North East double-decker, which had been operating the X21 service, was involved as the road was closed in both directions for several hours.

At around 8pm, parademics and collision investigation officers had been seen working outside The Croxdale Inn pub as a police cordon was put in place.
But confirming the incident on Monday, police said that a woman had died in the incident.
A spokesperson for Durham Police told The Northern Echo: "A woman has sadly died following a collision in Croxdale on Friday (January 21).
"The incident took place on Front Street at around 7.30pm, when a woman in her 30s was struck by a bus.
"Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."
A report is now being prepared for the coroner.
