A TEENAGE boy who has been at the centre of antisocial behaviour and volume crime in Newton Aycliffe for months has been banned from parts of the town.

The 16-year-old was made the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order.

The order, which lasts initially for 18 months, means the boy cannot enter certain areas of the town, he cannot associate with other identified causers of ASB, and he cannot congregate in groups of more than three in public places.

He also must leave any area or premises when asked to do so by the owner/occupier, or by someone in authority.

And he cannot throw or kick any items towards and property, persons, vehicles or roads.

If the boy breaches any of these conditions, police said he will be arrested and presented before the court.

PC Welch said: “For too long now this group have thought it was acceptable to cause misery in the community, they have gone about their business without any thought for how their behaviour impacted on those living and working in the area.

"It has taken a lot of work with partners to get to this point and we are really pleased that the court has supported us in trying to make Newton Aycliffe a safer place to reside.

"We know that ASB is still a problem, but I’d like to get the message out to the community that when we are supported with the information and evidence we need, we can obtain these orders to try and reduce the problems you are experiencing."
