This year’s Golden Globes was a very muted affair as the usually star-studded event was replaced by periodic updates from the Golden Globes website and official social media accounts.
The low-key ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday without a red carpet or official media access.
The decision to make the awards a “private event” was announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organisation that presents the awards, last week.
Reading born actress, Kate Winslet, is one of several British performers to win awards this year.
She took home the award for Best Performance By An Actress In A Limited Series, Anthology Series Or A Motion Picture Made For Television in Mare Of Easttown, a crime drama that follows Winslet as she investigates a murder in a small town.
Actor and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh won Best Screenplay for Belfast.
Fellow British actor Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Power of Dog, however lost out to Will Smith.
Congratulations to all of those nominated and all the 79th #GoldenGlobe winners! 👏
