POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly man was left needing emergency surgery after he was was bitten by a dog in Peterlee, County Durham.
Durham Constabulary, who are now appealing to members of the public for help, said that the incident occurred on Yoden Way at around 2.40pm on Tuesday, December 28.
The police force have reported that they believed the dog to be a lurcher, who was accompanied by three men and another dog at the time of the incident.

When looking into the incident, investigating officers found that the victim required surgery on his leg due to the nature of his injuries.
Anyone with information about the dog attack is asked to contact PC Bartley on 101 and dial extension 202454.
