A MAN and a woman have been found dead in a North East home.

Police have said the deaths of the 33-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman were not suspicious.

Police received a report of concern for the welfare of two occupants at an address in  South Shields, on Monday, December 20.

Officers attended the property in School Approach and found the pair unresponsive, a spokesperson for Northumbria Police said.

They were pronouced dead at the scene.

A report is now being prepared for the coroner's office.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Officers attended the scene where a 33-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman were found unresponsive inside the address.

"Sadly they were pronounced dead at the scene.

"The deaths are being treated as non-suspicious and a report has been prepared for the coroner."
